For Coaches
Does CalCoach replace my training platform (Trainerize, Everfit, My PT Hub)?
No. CalCoach is a nutrition layer, not a training platform. It works alongside Trainerize, Everfit, My PT Hub, and other coaching software. Your clients keep using their training app for workouts and programming; they use CalCoach for food logging and AI nutrition coaching. You see both dashboards. There's no migration, no double entry, and no conflict between the two.
Think of it this way: Trainerize handles programming, CalCoach handles nutrition.
What if my clients won't log their food?
The most common reason clients don't log is friction — manual database-search logging takes too long. CalCoach addresses this with voice and photo logging that takes seconds per meal. Clients speak what they ate ("chicken breast, rice, and broccoli for lunch") or take a photo, and Cal identifies and logs it automatically.
The second factor is accountability: when clients know their coach can see their log in real time, they log more consistently. You don't even need to review every entry — the presence of the dashboard is enough.
How long does setting up CalCoach take?
Setting up your coach account only takes a couple of minutes: add your profile, set your first client's macro targets, and send them an invite. Client onboarding is quick too — a brief call walking them through voice and photo logging. Most coaches have their first client logging confidently within 24 hours of inviting them.
Is there a desktop/browser dashboard for coaches?
Yes. Coaches get a full browser-based PT dashboard where they can see every client's food diary, macros, habits, and trends. From the dashboard you can send nudges, generate PDF reports, and run challenges — all without needing the mobile app.

Who is behind CalCoach?
CalCoach was founded by Jack and Mike, based in Manchester, UK. Jack is a former online coach and qualified personal trainer who built CalCoach to solve the nutrition-tracking problem he experienced firsthand with his own clients. Mike has over 10 years in tech and built the platform, app, and Cal. Read the full story.
Does CalCoach have a free coach-finder listing?
Yes. Every CalCoach coach gets a free listing in the CalCoach coach finder — a public directory of CalCoach-aligned coaches. Clients searching for coaches with good nutrition support can find you there for free.
For Gyms
How do gyms use CalCoach?
Gyms use CalCoach in two main ways: as a member benefit (every member gets access to the app and Cal) and as a challenge platform (structured 30-day or 6-week nutrition challenges that create community and visible results). The gym plan includes 5 coach accounts, so your coaching staff can see all members' dashboards and provide personalised guidance.
How does CalCoach add revenue for gyms?
There are three ways gyms monetise CalCoach: (1) include nutrition access as part of a premium membership tier, increasing the tier's value and price point; (2) offer nutrition as a standalone monthly add-on (typically £3–5/month per member); or (3) sell periodic nutrition challenges as a one-off purchase. Gyms running regular challenges also report improved retention, which reduces the cost of member acquisition.
What is the free 30-day nutrition challenge?
When a gym signs up to CalCoach, they can run a free 30-day nutrition challenge for their members — no cost during the trial. The challenge gives members access to the full CalCoach app, Cal, food logging, and a group leaderboard. It's designed to demonstrate the value of the service before the gym commits to a paid plan. Most gyms that run the free challenge continue with a paid plan afterwards.
How much does CalCoach cost for a gym?
Gym Licence pricing starts from £144/month for up to 100 members (£1.44 per member per month), including 5 coach accounts. The plan scales by member count. A Hybrid model — where the gym pays a platform licence and members subscribe individually — is available and discussed on a demo call. There are no setup fees and you can start with a free 30-day challenge. See full gym pricing.
Does CalCoach work for F45, functional fitness gyms, and independent gyms?
Yes. CalCoach works for any gym format where members exercise and could benefit from nutrition accountability. It's used by independent PTs, box gyms, functional fitness facilities, and larger multi-site gyms. The challenge and accountability features work for any community that trains together.
For Clients & Members
What is "Cal" in the CalCoach app?
Cal is the AI nutrition coach built into every client's CalCoach app. You can ask Cal questions at any time — "what's a good high-protein breakfast?", "how many calories are in this meal?", "I've been hitting my protein goal — am I on track?" — and Cal responds based on your goals and recent food diary. Cal is available 24/7 and acts as your always-on nutrition assistant between check-ins with your human coach.
Can I log food by voice or photo?
Yes. Voice logging lets you describe what you ate in plain English and Cal parses and records the nutritional information automatically. Photo logging lets you take a picture of your meal and Cal identifies the foods and logs them. Both methods are designed to take seconds per meal — significantly faster than searching a food database manually.
Do I need a coach to use CalCoach?
No. You can use CalCoach independently, with Cal as your AI coach. However, CalCoach is designed to be most effective when connected to a human coach or gym who can see your food diary and provide personalised guidance. If you're looking for a coach who uses CalCoach, you can find one in the free coach finder.
How do I find a coach on CalCoach?
You can browse and search coaches at calcoach.com/coach-finder. Filter by location, specialism, and whether you want in-person or online coaching. Every coach listed has opted into CalCoach for their client nutrition coaching, so you know you'll get the food-logging and AI coach features.
Does CalCoach sync with Apple Health, Garmin, Whoop, and Apple Watch?
Yes. CalCoach integrates with Apple Health, Garmin, Whoop, and Apple Watch. This means your calorie burn, step count, and activity data can be factored into your daily nutrition targets automatically.
How is CalCoach different from other tracking apps like MyFitnessPal?
Other tracking apps just track. They're food databases built for individuals — there's no coach visibility, no voice or photo logging, and nothing that actually helps you stay on track. CalCoach goes further by offering personalised AI nutrition coaching through Cal, who's available 24/7 to answer questions and keep you accountable. On top of that, your food diary is visible to your coach in real time, so you've always got a human in your corner too. See how we compare.
